This Place: The Koala Brothers and Mount Yarriabini

Uncle Micklo Jarrett is a Gumbaynggirr man, sharing a dreamtime story about how Yarriabini mountain, on the mid north coast of New South Wales, got its name. Back in a time when the shoreline was further east near the edge of the continental shelf, this story also talks about the sea level rise, how Split Solitary Island near Coffs harbour was formed, Seven Sisters or Pleiades and landmarks at Little Beach, Scott’s head. While there is also a Dunghutti story of the same place, this is the Gumbaynggirr story.
