First holiday in Alcúdia, Mallorca for 10 years and there have many been changes, with Arriva owned Autocares Mallorca seemingly out of the scene, replaced by Emptesa Martin, part of Grupo Ruiz. Services in 2012 were operated by Autcares Mallorca with their route 2 from C’an Picafort to Puerto de Pollença via Platja Muro, Platja d’Alcúdia, Port d’Alcúdia and Alcúdia old town being the main route. It still operates, but is now the 324 and ends at Alcúdia old town. Autocares Manacor (AUMASA), later BusRed, had services running into the area from further down the coast, such as Cala d’Or, but not any more. Services in the locality now are: 301 Port de Pollença-Palma 302 C’an Picafort-Palma 315 Sa Pobla-Badia d’Alcúdia-Inca These are operated by Scania K320 with Castrosua Magnus New City body, serving the 315, 322 and 334. The 301/302 and A32 use Scania K360/Castrosua Magnus E. These are rigid three axle buses. On the 324 are Scania K360/Castrosua Magnus E three axle articulated buses. Most buses have an entrance at the front with two exits, middle and rear, but some shorter types have only two, entrance and centre exit. The fares are quite cheap, but only if you use a debit/credit card, or TIB’s InterModal Card. You tap on the reader as you board, each time for up to four passengers in a party and do the same when alighting (the readers are slow and some drivers are impatient and ready to move off before passengers are able to tap out). Payment by cash almost doubles the fare.
