Hi, welcome to Deaf Talks News. The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for five state elections. In Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry, voting will take place on April 9, 2026. In Tamil Nadu, the election will be held on April 23, 2026. In West Bengal, voting will happen in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The votes for all five states will be counted on May 4. The announcement was made in New Delhi by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Election Commission recently visited Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry to review the election preparations. They also met representatives from different political parties and listened to their opinions. He said that voting is very important because it helps decide the future of the country. In West Bengal, there are about 6.44 crore voters. In Tamil Nadu, there are 5.67 crore voters. In Kerala, about 2.7 crore voters. In Assam, about 2.5 crore voters. In Puducherry, there are 9.44 lakh voters. Altogether, 17.4 crore voters will participate in the elections across these four states and one union territory. Representatives from about 20 countries will also observe the elections. The Election Commission said it has taken several new steps over the past year to make the election process more transparent.
