Lesson 65 of A Course in Miracles reminds us that our only true function is the one God gave us, forgiveness. The ego distracts us by making us believe we have other roles, whether in work, relationships, or even spiritual teaching, but our real purpose is to release fear and remember our oneness with God. True salvation comes from letting go of false beliefs, including the idea that we are separate or that happiness can be found outside ourselves. Jesus teaches that by forgiving, we free ourselves and others from suffering, bringing peace to the world. To accept this, we must also let go of other self-made roles that keep us attached to the ego. Practicing this idea daily helps train our minds to follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance instead of the ego’s illusions. By setting time aside for reflection, noticing distracting thoughts without judgment, and choosing to let them go, we create space for God’s truth to replace them. Jesus reassures us that true peace comes when we fully accept our function, and as we do, the way we see the world will change.
