The CATESOL Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL) Interest Group met this July with a wonderful guest presenter Deborah Healey Ph.D. Learn about the new technology standards Dr. Healey has worked on with a Canadian non-profit. The technology standards for instructors, programs, and learners include elements related to generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) like ChatGPT. The standards are freely available and editable (Creative Commons licensed) and should be helpful as we all try to make sense of best practices and things to avoid. We’ll look at some suggestions and talk about how they might work in your context. It’s never too late to build a stronger TELL foundation for our fall courses.
