The GOAT Michael Giacchino - LAX A little more thoughts on what I think of this motif or connection if you're interested ⬇️⬇️⬇️ For me, the whole Mirror idea is connected to the remembering scenes in the final episode of the series. The mirrors represent a sort of barrier (there's a whole other world behind them), the characters look at their reflection, almost feeling like there's something beyond that, but they just can't seem to cross it and so they can't let go. But in the end the transition finally happens as they all remember their true lives (To remember, and to let go). As for the Desmond connection, it's specifically linked to the transition of Desmond's consciousnesses jumping from the island to the Flash-Sideways happening through the reflection of the monitor (Again, symbolizing the mirror as the barrier between the two worlds). 3:50 ... Arrived And I think the reason why Desmond was able to make that transition is because of his special journey and link to the energy / source of the island, which is also connected to the Flash-Sideways world (The bright light when he jumps over, and the bright light at the end of the series).
