Historic Thayer School Window Replacement by Northville Lumber's Novi Home Design Center

This is the Thayer School. A unique, one-room brick schoolhouse located in Northville Township. It was built in 1877 and the school bell rang for the last time in 1952. In the decades since, it had fallen into major disrepair and is currently being renovated by the Northville Township Historical Commission. The Historical District Commission needed a full-service partner to replace the windows and doors with new, historically accurate, purpose-built units. For this special project they selected Northville Lumber's Novi Home Design Center. The Design Center’s Installation Team commenced to work out a plan to design, specify and procure the correct materials as well as to perform the installation of the custom-made Marvin Windows. A partnership with Northville Lumber’s Novi Home Design Center provided several advantages; among them; The vast selection of window styles and options available coupled with deep experience in historically accurate window and door replacement. The Design Center also employs their own veteran installation crews who specialize in window and door replacement and understand both current and historical building construction and techniques. They also have the vast resources of Northville Lumber readily available to keep the project on schedule. When replacing windows in a 150-year-old historic schoolhouse, being prepared is job number one.
