1939 FORD MODEL 81-C QUARTER TON PICKUP TRUCK

Welcome to Antique Vintage Saturday. Ford pickup trucks were fitted with a new cab, new front-end sheetmetal, and a new bed for 1938, while 1 1/2-ton versions got a new chassis as well. They got bulbous front and rear fenders and unique to the 1938-39 model, the oval, barrel shaped grille. With the 39 grille, it lost the crank hole at the bottom and the V8 badge at the top, that the 38 had. The 1939 engine is a 239 Flathead V8. This example is not a factory fresh one but a well done customized version. These features include no front bumper, replacement V8 engine, new dash gauges, bucket seats, and a skid free metal cargo bed replacing the wood slats. Still, the pickup body has been well preserved with recent paint. This was my first sighting of this Ford pickup and the very last time I ever saw it. Thanks for viewing.
