In this video I go through the process of replacing the rear brake pads and rotors, as well as struggle with a very rusty caliper piston, and rust seized pads. I demonstrate how to clean up a mildly rusty slide pin bolt as well a blowing out the caliper piston and cleaning it up, rather than just replacing it. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity of catching the piston removal on camera, but it was as simple as 4 presses of the brake pedal to pop it out of the bore. Inserting it after clean up, was done by holding it in the bore opening and using a curved pick to bring the boot up and around the piston. From there, it slid right in. The opening clip was trying to adjust the parking brake, but, locking the adjuster fully closed instead. This led to tearing it all back down a second time to free the adjuster. #HondaCRV #RearBrakes "You've got no more excuses... I do most, if not all repairs, with tools that I carry around in my overloaded 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I perform "On-Site" braking and suspension repairs, amongst other diagnostics and services. My tools consist mostly of Craftsman, a few Stanley, Snap-On, Husky, Pittsburgh, and S&K tools. Scan tools include hand held Actron(s) DVOMs, and test lights. I also currently use a Zurich ZR Pro, for advanced and bidirectional diagnostics as well as a Snap-On Verus Pro, for more detailed diagnostics.
