If you love sewing and crafts in general, Christmas is the perfect excuse to unleash your imagination and get your sewing machine going. And for the little ones in the house, a perfect project is making elf-like slippers—pointy, with a pom-pom or a jingle bell at the tip. *How did I make them?* You’ll need felt in your preferred color, sherpa or fleece fabric for the lining, and something sturdier for the sole, like faux leather or the same felt used for the exterior. The first step is to create the pattern for the slippers using a shoe belonging to the person who will wear them. By wrapping the side of the shoe, including the heel and the opposite side, you can trace it easily. Be sure to add extra centimeters at the top to cover the instep. Another important point is to include the tip in the sole design rather than attaching it afterward to avoid ending up with a slipper that’s two sizes too large. Next, cut the pattern pieces from felt and sherpa fabric, adding extra centimeters to the sherpa pieces so you can fold them outward over the felt. Also, cut two soles; in my case, I used faux leather. To start sewing, begin with the upper part of the slippers, attaching the instep areas before sewing the sole. Mark the center of the heel to align it with the center of the sole for a balanced fit. Once the sole is attached, sew the front section leading up to the tip. Repeat the same steps with the sherpa fabric and place it inside the felt slipper. Fold the sherpa outward over the felt edge and hand-sew it for a clean finish. For the final touch, make a pom-pom using scraps of sherpa fabric. Gather the fabric, sew it into a ball, and attach it to the tip of the slippers. This is an ideal project that will fill your home with joy. If you enjoy this type of video and want to support the channel, don’t forget to Subscribe and give it a Like!
