In this video, I critically examine pullingo culture and how pullingo gaana music actively glorifies violence, street intimidation, and the harassment of women. The pullingo subculture is often dismissed as harmless “local expression,” but a deeper analysis reveals disturbing patterns of normalised aggression. I break down how pullingo culture mirrors the trajectory of Black American gangsta rap, where music became a tool to romanticise criminal behaviour, hyper-masculinity, and disrespect toward women. Just as gangsta rap evolved alongside gang violence, pullingo gaana feeds into a broader pullingo identity rooted in domination, provocation, and performative toughness. If we don’t question pullingo narratives, pullingo symbols, and pullingo role models, we risk normalising violence and harassment as cultural pride.
