To conclude the ritual, the devotee will perform an aarti, in which he or she will circle an oil lamp around a chosen deity 3-7 times while chanting mantras. This aarti is done to symbolize the removal of all sins and to offer one’s respect and devotion to the chosen deity. Afterwards, a prasadam is commonly offered to the deity. The prasadam that is offered is typically a sweet dish made of ghee mixed with sugar, honey, and other delicious ingredients. This prasadam is then shared among the family as a blessing from the deity. The Sandhya Vandanam ritual is a very important tradition in Hindu culture and provides individuals with a sense of peace, contentment, and spiritual connection to their faith.
