In this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: A successful trucking company owner who lived two separate lives: one with his wife and kids, and another with his girlfriend. This love triangle would eventually lead to the entrepreneur’s demise. Bill Hall owned and operated a multimillion-dollar company, Bill Hall Jr. Trucking, and lived comfortably with his wife, Frances, and their two kids. But then there was 28-year-old Bonnie Contreras. Bill and Bonnie began a relationship on the side, and Bill promised her he was getting a divorce from Frances. The two were so close they even sent Christmas cards out to friends. However, Bill wasn’t telling Bonnie the whole truth. Bill and Frances had not separated and were not planning to get divorced. On October 10, 2013, everything changed for Bill, Bonnie, and Frances. Frances was driving her Cadillac Escalade on Loop 1604 when she saw her husband pass by on his Harley Davidson motorcycle with Bonnie following close behind in Frances’ Range Rover. She made a U-turn and followed them, a decision that would ultimately have fatal consequences. A high-speed chase ensued as Frances followed Bonnie and Bill. Bill’s motorcycle and Frances’ Escalade collided, and Bill crashed. He was rushed to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Frances was arrested and went to trial for charges of murder and aggravated assault. She was convicted September 9, 2016, and could have spent life in prison, but the jury determined these were “Sudden Passion” crimes, which shortens the sentencing range significantly. She served two years in prison and was released in September 2018. But Frances’ legal troubles didn’t stop there. In August 2022, she turned herself in to Bexar County law enforcement officials a little over a month after she was indicted in Travis County on fraud charges. She allegedly falsified payroll information to receive lower insurance premiums. If convicted, she could face up to life in prison. Now, let’s look back at the case where an affair and jealousy came to a deadly end.
