Notorious former bikie granted bail over alleged road rage attack on cyclist

Former Bandidos bikie Toby Mitchell has been granted bail after he appeared in a Melbourne court, charged over an alleged road rage attack on a cyclist on Monday night. Police allege Mr Mitchell first exchanged words with the cyclist at the corner of Harbour Esplanade and Collins Street. They say he drove at the man on Bourke Street where it's alleged the cyclist yelled "you're in a car you can use the freeway". Mr Mitchell is accused of getting out of his Mercedes and punching the 31-year-old man to the face. Police allege he then reversed his car back to Collins Street to make his getaway. An anti-bike Echo taskforce detective said two other motorists witnessed the alleged assault that left the victim with swelling. The 40-year-old voluntarily attended police headquarters this morning, but made a "no comment" interview. He was later charged with dangerous driving, assault and recklessly and intentionally causing injury. The court heard he has a propensity for violence, and after spending six hours in custody, he was released on bail. While on bail, Mr Mitchell will be assessed for anger management.
