In episode 17 of our South Pacific Cruise we dock in Tauranga, New Zealand and we have one of the greatest experiences of our lifetimes. We are taken into the Lord of the Rings universe to the movie set that served as the home for the Hobbits. If you are fans of the movies or even wondered what it's like to be part of a "real-life" fantasy land then this full video walkthrough is for you. Come with us as we explore hobbit-sized under-hill houses giving us a glimpse of everyday life in The Shire. The tour also takes us inside one of the residences which is adorned with over 2000 decorative items. We feel as if we have been transported into the the film as we go from room to room getting a feel for hobbit life. We keep looking over our shoulders for Frodo, Bilbo, Gandalf, Pip and Merry and all the iconic characters from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. We forgo the expensive NCL cruise lines excursions and book a tour through Cruise Tours Tauranga. We have the time of our lives exploring Hobbiton, and we share that experience with all of you. Our cruise on the Norwegian Cruise Lines Sun takes us to numerous islands including Bora Bora, Rarotonga, American Samoa, Pago Pago, The Kingdom of Samoa, Fiji and Vanuatu, Then we arrive in Australia where we make port calls in Brisbane, Melbourne, Portland, Adelaide, and Kangaroo Island. After that, we visit Hobart, Tasmania before we sail through the fjords of New Zealand's Fjordlands National Park. We round off the cruise with stops in Dunedin, Wellington, Picton, Napier, Tauranga and Aukland. As usual, we have made some prearranged tours prior to sailing, but in some places we leave the ship with very little idea of what we are going to do that day. Whether planned or spontaneous, we manage to have a fantastic time as we experience our first trip down under.
