In this video I compare JPEG images straight out of camera from the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II and the Canon 100D to see how their colours and rendering differ. To keep things fair, I headed to the historic Bailgate area of Lincoln, where I photographed two well-known spots using the same composition with both cameras. 📍 Locations in this test: • The Post Office on Bailgate • The Magna Carta pub looking up Steep Hill 📷 Camera & lens setup: • Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II + 25mm f/1.8 lens at f/4 • Canon 100D + 18–55mm kit lens at 31mm and f/5.6 (to match the field of view as closely as possible) Both cameras were used to capture JPEG images straight out of camera, so there’s no RAW editing—just a direct comparison of how each camera processes colour, contrast, and detail. The results are surprisingly close, but in the end I slightly prefer the colour rendering from the Canon, which appears a little richer and warmer, especially in the buildings and street tones. If you enjoy camera comparisons, street photography, and exploring historic locations like Lincoln, this video should give you a good idea of how these two cameras perform in real-world shooting.
