We recently found a lake with 1 inch thick ice where we did some testing with the Ultimate Outdoor Vehicle. This was an area that had been open water with the warm temperatures this winter and refroze overnight. It was one inch thick as you can see in the video. The low ground pressure of around 2.6 lbs per square inch gives us a nice light footprint. As a comparison, a person walking on ice has anywhere from 8-16 lbs per square inch of ground pressure. An average truck can have 30 or more lbs per square inch of ground pressure. With our light footprint, we were able to drive over the one inch thick ice without any problems. This was for testing purposes and we do not recommend trying this yourself. For safe operation, we recommend at least 5-7 inches of ice. Would you like to test drive the Ultimate Outdoor Vehicle?
