Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has emphasized the need to increase women's representation in the judiciary. Speaking at the first national conference of Indian Women in Law, he urged High Court collegiums to seriously consider appointing more qualified women lawyers as judges. CJI Surya Kant said women are not asking for special concessions but fair representation in the judiciary. He stressed that institutional reforms are necessary to ensure equal opportunities and long-term changes in the legal system. He also highlighted the progress made in several courts including the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Madras High Court and Bombay High Court, where the number of women judges has been steadily increasing. The Chief Justice pointed out that around 36.3% of judicial officers at the district level are women, which reflects a positive trend for the future of India's judiciary. The event was attended by former Chief Justice N. V. Ramana and Supreme Court judges B. V. Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan. #CJISuryaKant #WomenInJudiciary #WomenJudges #SupremeCourtOfIndia #IndianJudiciary #WomenLawyers #LegalNewsIndia #JudiciaryReform #Trending #Viral #womenempowerment #IndiaNews #TheEdge
