Why Badgr? Perhaps the number one question we’re asked is “Why Badgr?” In this video, former higher education professional and Badgr Sales Development Representative Kristina Decker will take you through some of the main features that set Badgr apart from other micro-credentialing programs. She’ll share the story behind Badgr and Open Badges, as well as cover topics related to Badgr Pro. Badgr has been at the forefront of digital credentials since its creation and believes in the Open Badges format. Its parent company, Concentric Sky, has been making solutions for clients since 2005. Their philosophy is that technology is the key to solving the social, economic and environmental problems in today’s society and they use open standards to disrupt the status quo and contribute to a brighter future for everyone. Badgr is built upon this principle and has been recognized by the MacArthur Foundation and Mozilla as the leading source for Open Badges. In 2019, we absorbed the Mozilla Open Badges backpack. The largest benefit for those organizations who level up to Badgr Pro is Badgr Pathways. Kristina will talk about how pathways functions and provide examples from some of our customers, which include Instructure, Microsoft, Walmart and others. Though often used in academic settings, pathways is a shareable, customizable, stackable and automated feature that offers employers a way to document what their employees have learned and accomplished. Employees can use these badge milestones as a record of their progression through the company and in their field. The built in badge creator makes branding easy and gives a unique voice to a company’s credential program. Badgr also allows 3rd party badges to be used within pathways. In addition to organizations being able to track current employee achievements, digital credentials allow employers to see which prospective hires align with their needs and goals through the digital backpack and credential check offered by Badgr. Open Badges detail skills in an easily digestible format, and the Badgr Pro skills alignment feature enables an organization to see and track the skills linked to a badge and the real world data relating to the demand for those skills. With added Linkedin integration, this feature makes Badgr Pro a true benefit to companies and potential employees all over the world.
