65 narrowboat life UK - Canal Locking Like Bosses to Beautiful Braunston Via Braunston Tunnel

NARROW ESCAPE - our narrowboat life adventure. In this episode we set off at the bottom of the Buckby flight of locks next to Whilton Marina from our ‘interesting’ choice of mooring spot sandwiched between the M1 motorway and the West Coast Mainline!!! We are joined by another boat for the lock flight and look who it is! We soon get into a real team working rhythm and start ticking the locks off quickly - Elliott is keeping time and the other boat’s lock crew aren’t messing about either. We emerge at Long Buckby Wharf in great time. Pretty Norton Junction is next before it’s time for the very long Braunston Tunnel much to Sue’s delight cough cough! Once out of the tunnel there is still work to be done as there are more locks and this time we are on our own although the CRT volunteers are out rather helpfully. We make the last lock just before it closes due to repairs to the flight needing to be made and find a nice but somewhat windy mooring spot where we help another boat which is struggling in the wind. Good deed for the day done it’s time to relax because tomorrow is another cruising day!
