In the poem "Sometimes" she writes, "Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it." Where I live, I don't have easy access to grandiose landscapes, turbulent cities, or luminous jungles. Sometimes I regret the dearth of "suitable" subjects in my everyday world. That is when I slow down and meander with a "beginner's mind" to observe what I DO have. Suddenly, there are more suitable subjects than I can count. I have little plots of woodland full of humble creatures and plants; where sticks and leaves crackle underfoot and woodpeckers laugh high above in the trees. I have murky lakes and ponds that tell of mystery. I have small towns where used furniture of very questionable worth is put out on curbs to be hauled away. I have cracked sidewalks, ancient cemeteries, county fairs, and infinite accumulations of mundane detritus around every corner. All of it interests me. I pay attention. I am often astonished. And, I do love to tell about it with photos! I hope you enjoy my little corner of the world! Thanks for looking!
