Destiny Waltz (Sidney Baynes) - Played By The Court Symphony Orchestra Arranged and Conducted By Albert Ketèlbey Recorded by The Columbia Graphophone Company, London, c. July, 1926. This Issue: 12" Australian Columbia Record No.564 Matrix: W-AX1643 Sydney Baynes (1879-1938) was a pianist, conductor and composer who worked as an accompanist and led various bands in theatre, concert and for broadcast. Destiny Waltz was composed in 1912 and remains amongst his most famous works. The "Court Symphony Orchestra" was a studio orchestra assembled for the British branch of the Columbia Graphophone Company, that recorded between approximately 1906 and 1930. Its leader was the English composer, arranger and conductor Albert Ketèlby, (1875-1959) who was musical director for Columbia in London between these years. About 600 recordings were made under this orchestra name, some of which like this one, were re-recorded with the new "Viva tonal" electrical technology, post 1925. Recorded and processed from an original vintage 78 record by myself.
