The virus kills about 10 percent, leaving half with permanent neurological problems. A popular college bar was allegedly full of underage drinkers. According to the State Liquor authority, they noticed vans dropping off Marist college students to Darby O’Gills on a Friday night in late November. Officials say the bar was soon packed, and 90 percent of the customers were underage. Measles was exposed to a popular Dutchess County diner. Health officials say that two people from Putnam County developed measles from the 2 European tourists who visited the area in April. Weather officials confirmed tornadoes touched down in Newburgh, Patterson, Kent, and Saugerties. The Ulster County twister then traveled across the Hudson River to Tivoli. Officials also confirmed a macroburst impacted Beacon, East Fishkill, Hopewell Junction, Wappingers and Kent. A cute, fuzzy but poisonous caterpillar was spotted in New York. There were reports of the White hickory tussock caterpillar in Orange, Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan counties as well as the Catskills and the Albany area. The furry white hairs on the critter are actually poisonous. When they get stuck in skin, a person may develop a rash, similar to poison ivy.
