This video was inspired by this recent video by Don Georgevich on the Weakness Question in Interviews OR How to Answer. What Are Your Weaknesses? • 3-Ways to Answer the WEAKNESS intervi... . I thought about titling the video: "Weaknesses in Job Interviews: 1 Answer That Works. 2 That Don't (Sorry Don Georgevich)" But a) That's too long of a title AND b) That would have been a little unfair to Don as he was trying to answer the question in 60 seconds Don proposes 3 ideas for answering the weakness question. 1. Is to talk about a weakness that you have turned into a strength. This is my recommended approach. But you want to avoid cliches like "I work too hard sometimes." Pick a weakness that you have strengthened not just for your personal benefit. But also because you have recognized how it's important to other colleagues in your work. 2. Is to pick an irrelevant weakness. This is a poor strategy. Because at best it gives no useful information to the recruiter. And at worst you are seen as deliberately trying to avoid giving useful information OR the recruiter decides it is a relevant weakness anyway. 3. Is to pick a weakness that could be seen as a strength for the job. This is also bad. Because if you have decided it is a weakness. This really means that you see it as a negative and probably should be working on it. Whether it is helpful to the new job or not. It shows that you are inflexible and don't seek to grow as a person.
