This video covers installing a new backup camera on my used CAT 299D. When I bought the CAT299D, there was no backup camera, but there was a slot designed to hold one in the back door. After some deliberation, I decided to splurge and install the camera, though fortunately I found one from a 3rd party for a fraction of what one costs from the CATERPILLAR catalogue. Keep your eyes on ebay if you're looking to make this upgrade! It's a useful tool in keeping a safe work environment, it's important to be able to see all the people on a jobsite or around your skid steer, who might otherwise not be paying attention themselves! This install procedure is likely pretty similar across most CAT Skid Steers / Compact track loaders. It takes a little finesse, but fortunately CAT engineering designs for just enough space to run extra wiring harnesses and cables for your extras and add-ons!
