The Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department is a national leader in academics as well as in clinical care and resident education. Its 120 faculty members and 45 residents are dedicated to providing the highest quality anaesthesia care, being at the forefront of technology and science to make sure patients benefit from the most advanced specialist knowledge. Over the past five decades, the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department has grown dramatically both in the volume and scope of anaesthetic practice. It is a global leader in the field, treating about 30000 patients a year across all surgical specialities both in adults and children. It has pioneered the creation of a Pain Clinic, with more than 3200 analgesic procedures recorded per year. People are the reason we exist, and the patient is always at the centre of the department activity.
