Dharamsthala Horror: Whistleblower Alleges Mass Burials, Rape & Murder

Allegations concerning mass burials in the pilgrimage town of Dharamsthala, Karnataka, have emerged. A former sanitation worker has claimed he was forced to bury or burn hundreds of bodies, mostly of women and girls, between 1995 and 2014. In a statement recorded before a magistrate on July 11th, the whistleblower alleged he disposed of the bodies on the orders of the temple administration. He stated that, "while cleaning the Netravati river area, he started finding bodies, mostly women, some of whom appeared to have been allegedly raped and murdered." Following these revelations, the mother of a medical student, Sujata, who went missing in 2003, has approached the police.
