Macerata's location is ideal for reaching all that the province has to offer. The Adriatic Sea Coast, ski resorts, and the National Park of The Sibillini Mountains are all relatively nearby. The Province of Macerata is also notable for its employment rate and the great number of small and medium-sized businesses. The University of Macerata was founded in 1290 and it is one of the oldest universities in Europe. Its main activities are focused on the humanities and social sciences. Macerata is a medieval town and here you can study in ancient and artistically evocative buildings and classrooms. Over the last few years the University has developed a multicampus structure, with a number of programmes located around the Marche region in the towns of Jesi, Civitanova Marche, Fermo and Spinetoli, but with most of its facilities and activities hosted in the open main campus within the city of Macerata.
