Bassem Snaije is Adjunct Professor at Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) and Managing Director of Cosmos Advisors. He previously served as Head of MENA, Managing Director, and Senior Advisor at HSBC, with nearly 30 years of experience in private banking, investment banking, and capital markets across Europe and the MENA region. A graduate of Sorbonne University, where he is also affiliated with doctoral research in economic history, he also teaches at the Institut Supérieur des Affaires (ESA). He is a board member of Institut de recherches et d'études sur la Méditerranée et le Moyen-Orient (IREMMO). His expertise focuses on political economy, financial markets, and the MENA region. This workshop, a proud collaboration between the McGill Policy Association (MPA) and the McGill MENA Policy & Research Association (MPRA), will examine Canadian foreign trade policy toward the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), with a focus on economic cooperation, trade diversification, and strategic partnerships. The discussion centered on trade and investment policy between Canada and the GCC.
