New Animal Welfare Act HUGELY Increases JAIL TIME for ANIMAL ABUSERS | EZ Law

The UK Parliament have passed the Animal Welfare (Sentencing) Act on the 29th June 2021. This imposes new, harsher maximum prison sentences for those convicted of animal abuse under the original Animal Welfare Act 2006. This is a huge success for animals rights groups and charities, including the RSPCA, who have been pushing for this Act for a long time. This Act means the original maximum sentence of 6 months for animal abuse or cruelty has been increased massively to 5 years. This means the law in England and Wales will finally match the law that existed in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Hopefully with the new laws less people will be willing to take the risk of harming an animal.
