The Ebi (shrimp and lobster) katana is the latest offering by Romance of Men. It has unique set of hilt fittings designed entirely in-house, that has an ocean motif, featuring many marine crustacea. This is a feature-rich katana that has neatly executed perforated tsuba with dual shrimps (ebi in Japanese, meaning "sea elder") with geometries wrapped around on both sides--which is rare on even antique tsubas, shrimps again on the fuchi kashira, and a pair of well sculpted lobsters as the menuki pins on the grip. Even the habaki is shaped to be a two-piece design with a seawave Mon (meaning emblem in Japanese) engraved onto it. The blade is made of differentially hardened T10 steel with a prominent hamon that resembles ocean waves. It also features a geometric yokote line, and a distally tapered saya to mirror the thickness of the blade that tapers more than an average Japanese sword. Blade length: 28.8" Nagasa: 27.4" Overall length: 39.7" Weight: 1056 grams (2 lbs 5.3 oz) Motokasane: 7.23 mm Motohaba: 31.43 mm Sakikasane: 4.5 mm Sakihaba: 21.75 mm MSRP: $350 (shipping included) Sword in question: https://romanceofmen.com/collections/...
