The Øresund Bridge is an expression of accumulated engineering knowledge – where structural design, materials science, transport planning, and architecture converge into a single infrastructure system. The Øresund Bridge is a combined road and railway link between Denmark and Sweden, forming part of the Øresund Fixed Link. The project is jointly owned and operated by the Danish and Swedish states through Øresundsbro Konsortiet. The structure consists of a cable-stayed bridge, an artificial island (Peberholm), and the Drogden immersed tunnel on the Danish side. Total length of the connection is about 16 km, with the bridge section measuring 7.8 km. The main span of the cable-stayed bridge is 490 m, with pylons rising about 204 m above sea level. The bridge carries a four-lane motorway on the upper deck and a double-track railway on the lower deck. The link is a critical infrastructure corridor connecting Scandinavia with mainland Europe through Denmark’s transport network. The site lies in the Øresund strait, a busy maritime passage between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, which required maintaining a navigation clearance of about 57 m for ship traffic.
