This film of the Exeter Falcons was filmed between 1961 and 1964, at their stadium The County Ground. 1961 saw The Falcons returning to league action in the Provincial Speedway League after a five year absence, with two of their best riders being Pete Lansdale and Len Silver. in 1962 they won the Provincial Speedway League Knockout Cup, although the following two years found unsuccessful in lifting any trophies, riders Alan Cowland and Jimmy Squibb both had good seasons. Unfortunately The County Ground was sold in 2005, leaving the Falcons without a Stadium, and at this time of writing Exeter without a functioning speedway team. Points of interest is the well brylcreemed hair of some of the crowd, the Invacars parked up in the centre of the stadium, and the smoking riders (including Len Silver), on their parade lap. I hope you find this short sporting glimpse into the past enjoyable. Many thanks.
