Designed as a medium-weight multirole combat aircraft, the Tejas Mk2 will be larger, more powerful, and capable of carrying more advanced weapons than the current Tejas variants. One of the most important features of this aircraft is its ability to integrate long-range precision weapons. The jet is expected to carry advanced missiles such as Astra Mk3 beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles and long-range cruise missiles capable of striking high-value targets from hundreds of kilometers away. This capability will allow the aircraft to attack enemy infrastructure, airbases, and command centers without entering heavily defended airspace. Powered by the powerful GE F414 engine, Tejas Mk2 will offer significantly improved thrust, range, and payload capacity. This will allow the fighter to perform a wide range of missions including air superiority, deep strike, and suppression of enemy air defenses. In the future, the aircraft may also integrate additional indigenous weapons such as BrahMos-NG and Rudram anti-radiation missiles.
