In this video I’m disassembling a factory Mercruiser 5.0 charging and starting harness. This is a typical harness from later model 5.7, 5.0, and 4.3 carbureted engines. The only difference from one harness to another would be the model number of the Thunderbolt ignition module which varied with engine size. The purpose of disassembling the harness was to remove devices and wires that are no longer needed. But some viewers might find this helpful when troubleshooting their harness to locate splices and connections buried in the harness. The second diagram is what I’ll be modeling the EFI harness to but I’ll be adding in the starting and charging circuits to the EFI harness so that the final harness will be a combined harness.
