The deep snow here in Japan definetly needs to be respected. The resorts strictly marked with out of bounds ropes to stop people from entering zones that are too deep and dangerous to ride. There are many powder traps in Japan that you need be aware of and avoid while snowboarding. There are some incredible gates here in Niseko which are open to the public when the ski patrol has decided that they are safe.
