UPDATE: HeathInvader said that the piece sounds like "Ta/Sha Ra Ra Boom De Ay", and the first section bears a strong resemblance to that piece. If anyone else has info or confirmations on the song title[s], don't hesitate to drop a line. Potentially experimental wax cylinder recording made by Newark, NJ pianist Edward Issler and his Parlor Orchestra in 1888-9. The announcement is unusual in that it lists the fact that it was made by Edison and played by Issler's Orchestra, but otherwise fails to list the title. According to a YT user [whose name I forget, "princess" or "zelda" was in the name] with much information, this recording was transferred at about 80rpm instead of the more usual 120rpm for early cylinders. The tune itself is standard for the day, maybe a little bland, but catchy. At the end, we hear some talking and a bugle call likely by Issler's cornetist David B. Dana. George Schweinfest is likely a violin, flute or piccolo player, and there seem to be some extra performers here, possibly Messrs. Rothe and/or Von der Heide on violin, and Mr. Schutz on piccolo or flute. The extra musicians have been mentioned by Patrick Feaster. This file is from the Mike Sanchez MSN page, original transfer by Glenn Sage. If you have any info, please drop a line.
