Dj performances by Radio Lina and Elvira We are Chișinău’s alternative art and electronic music community. We want the same thing as any citizen: safety and a real fight against drugs. But modern policing targets trafficking networks at the border and online—it doesn’t stage shows of force with masked special units in clubs. WHY ARE WE HERE TODAY? Because these absurd, taxpayer-funded shows of force keep happening. Last week, at a cultural venue in the city, 20 armed officers from the special forces unit “Fulger” raided a group of just 25 young people who were listening to music. Do you know what the outcome of this massive mobilization was? Zero arrests and a single administrative fine. Sending anti-terror-style troops—paid from our taxes—just to issue one fine is not a successful anti-drug operation. It is a huge waste of public money and a pure intimidation tactic, which can never justify violating fundamental human rights and freedoms—dignity, the presumption of innocence, and protection from degrading treatment—no matter what pretext is invoked. WHAT ARE WE ASKING FROM THE STATE? We are not asking for favors. We are asking for clear rules and real effectiveness: The solution has already been adopted (Law 302/2025): Parliament has decided that safety at cultural events must respect fundamental human rights and be proportionate. The law will enter into force in six months—but its principles are already the state’s commitment. We demand that the Police apply them now, not use the transition period as an excuse for intimidation. Operational work, not televised PR: The Police must target major traffickers, not use young people as background extras for the evening news. Logical interventions, not blind raids: Special units like “Fulger” exist for serious crime (armed networks, terrorism), not to frighten young people. Respect, not profiling: A tattoo, baggy clothes, or the music you listen to does not make you a criminal. We demand an end to invasive, mass-applied body searches. We don’t want a police state—we want a state grounded in respect for fundamental human rights. Safety is built through investigations and procedures, not through mass checks and humiliation.
