Shop the Omega Collection: https://goo.gl/j1D9uE Welcome to the world of Omega. Today I will be your guide to the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Pitch Black from the Dark Side of the Moon family. This watch was part of the third wave of ceramic, 44 and a quarter millimeter of the Moon time pieces. Of course, the sensational Dark Side bowing in 2013, followed by the Grave Side, and becoming an entire family of themed timepieces in 2015. Now, the watch in many respects resembles its famous forbearer, but it has a character that is distinctly its own. With a number of highlights and features not found on the Dark Side of the Moon. We may start outward with one item they share in common, which is a very deluxe bi-material twin trigger release clasp. You can see ultimately polished and satin finished ceramic, with twin trigger release. Very secure when closed.Gives way to a matte titanium clasp that is both shaped contour to the underside of the wrist, and features a miter-less system that tucks excess strap length underneath its body, removing the need for awkward minor loops. You'll also note, underneath, calfskin with a red contrasting stitch. So far much in common. Where you start to see a divergence in style is in the strap itself. As you can see, the contrasting stitch and natural grained calfskin of the Pitch Black on the right, and the original Dark Side of the Moon, with combination of textile on its top with a monotone stitch. And on its underside, calfskin with a red contrasting stitch. So with the different material and the contrasting stitch, we're already seeing a few differences. But they multiply as we reach the case embezzle proper. One item in common, the ceramic 44.25 millimeter black case. Brilliantly double finished with polish and directional scent engrain. The contrast is made possible with diamond tipped tools that Omega uses to fashion this otherwise indelible material. That's correct. Ceramic, in addition to wearing light and whedly, thus highly suitable for smaller wrists, is also extremely hard. Effectively as scratch-resistant as a sapphire crystal, for long wearing durability. But you do need that high tech finishing capability with the diamond tipped, ceramic-specific tools to create this kind of contrast in such a hard material. Where the watch really diverges from the Dark Side is in the tachometer scale. Now, although you'll note there is a subtle difference in coloration, subtle, the real distinction happens when the lights go down. And that's when the Pitch Black is anything but. The tachometer scale, along with the crown insert, glowing brilliantly in super lumonova to match the dial. Now the dial is another area where the watch differs from the Dark Side. Two elements that you'll see immediately that are different. The Dark Side features a ceramic zirconium oxide dial in a high polish or gloss finish with unfinished, polished white gold indices and hands. Now, that's the Dark Side. As with all high performance machines, what's under the hood matters. And you can see that the exclusive caliber 9300 found on Omega timepieces and nowhere in [swatch group 00:04:44], even the Audemars watch branch, such as [inaudible 00:04:47] and Piguet. Beautifully decorated with a unique spiral, Geneva waves in arabesque across the winding mass and the bridges and the unique blacken screws that are a signature of this caliber family. At the center of the balance is an SI 14 silicon hairspring that also gives the watch robust resistance to magnetism. Now you can see through the bridge structure the column wheel interacting with its horns and levers that represents the function selector for the chronograph. This is an old school measure. More difficult to tune, more challenging to construct, and yes, a little bit more expensive. But it's the only way Omega builds its flagship chronograph families. And you can see it in beautiful fashion with its high polished crenelated towers. The final great advantage of this setup being that the transmission mechanism can stay engaged with no additional wear or tear. That being one of the disadvantages of a traditional lateral clutch. Here, you don't have that. So if you prefer just to read seconds at center and leave your chronograph running so you can have seconds, minutes, and hours at center, you can do that with no additional hazard to your timepiece. Water resistant to 50 meters. This is a high horology caliber in a flagship timepiece. Although recognizably related to its legendary Dark Side of the Moon brethren, otherwise, the Pitch Black has a character and a charm that is all its own.
