I have created a drill press using an electric drill. Nowadays, people tend to use cordless drills more often, as wired ones can be inconvenient due to the cord. However, cordless drills lack a vertical guide, making it difficult to ensure perfect perpendicularity. While various drill press products are available, it's a unique experience to create your own using a wired drill. To ensure basic vertical movement, I used drawer rails. By overlapping two sets of drawer rails, I created a moving body that provides excellent movement accuracy. To prevent even the slightest movement during drilling, I used as many pieces as possible for fixation during assembly. To adjust the drilling depth, I attached a clamp I like to the back, which serves as a guide for the drilling depth. To secure the drill, I drilled a hole that matches the front of the drill and used epoxy bond to fix it in place. Since the most crucial aspect of a vertical drill press is ensuring perfect perpendicularity during drill fixation, I placed a drilling plate on the bottom of the drill press, inserted a drill bit, and fixed it while adjusting the verticality. I made the handle by modeling it after the guide bar of the table saw I use. I installed a spring to make vertical movement easier. The strength of the spring should match the weight of the drill for comfortable drilling. When installing handles or springs on wood, using a wedge nut that fits the diameter of the bolt being fixed is recommended to prevent damage to the wood. If a wedge nut is well-fixed, it can move stably even under considerable force. After completing the work, I confirmed that the drilling was stable. I used a Bosch corded drill for this project. You don't need to buy a large-sized drill press; try creating a beautiful one using the wired drill you have. I hope this is helpful. Thank you. #DIY #DrillPress #Drill #Bosch #Woodworking
