[Anchor Lead] The nation's tallest building, 123-story Lotte World Tower, formally opened on Monday. A splendid fireworks show was held on Sunday night to celebrate the opening. The spectacle is made even more impressive with the addition of a laser show. A total of roughly 30,000 rounds of fireworks decorated the nighttime skies of Seoul. The fireworks display at the 123-story building continued for some ten minutes. Organizers explained that a French team, which directed internationally famous fireworks shows at towers such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, installed devices on the exterior walls of the building for 17 days, and a total of four tons of gunpowder was used. Approximately 400,000 people came out to enjoy the tower fireworks show and a variety of performances held in the vicinity. The 555-meter-tall, 123-story Lotte World Tower officially opens on Monday after a construction period of six years and three months.
