EN - Film about the Queen's Day celebrations from the 31st of August and the 1st of September, 1920 in Steenwijk by Carl Welte, a Dutch cinematographer of German origin. We see children playing games: the sack race, ring picking, and a game involving buckets of water. A flight demonstration takes place at the airfield, with one airplane doing several stunts, and offering passenger flights to several dignitaries. We see an unidentified female passenger (possibly Mrs. Frenkel from Amsterdam), and the German pilot F. Hertling.The crowd watches a band playing music. After their flight, the pilots are warmly received by a welcoming committee. Steenwijk then witnesses a colourful parade, with the dignitaries and the brass band leading the way, followed by hundreds of children with kites, model airplanes, baby carriages decorated with flowers, bicycles, and umbrellas. Many of the children are dressed up in costumes. Then the adults march by, most of whom are also dressed up and riding on floats. At the end, we see individual shots of children in costume, the public, and several dignitaries. Queen's Day has been celebrated in the Netherlands since 1891. It became a national celebration on August 31, 1902 when the Dutch population celebrated the news that Queen Wilhelmina had recovered from a serious illness. Nowadays, we celebrate King's Day in honor of King Willem Alexander on April 27th. NL - Reportage over de viering van Koninginnedag van 31 Augustus en 1 September, 1920 in Steenwijk door Carl Welte, een Nederlandse cameraman van Duitse afkomst. We zien kinderen spelletjes spelen: zaklopen, ringsteken en een spel met emmers water. Op het vliegveld vindt een vluchtdemonstratie plaats, waarbij één vliegtuig verschillende stunts uitvoert en passagiersvluchten aanbiedt aan verschillende hoogwaardigheidsbekleders. We zien een ongeïdentificeerde vrouwelijke passagier (mogelijk mevrouw Frenkel uit Amsterdam), en de Duitse piloot F. Hertling. Het publiek kijkt toe naar een band die muziek speelt. Na hun vlucht worden de piloten hartelijk ontvangen door een welkomstcomité. Steenwijk is dan getuige van een kleurrijke parade , met de hoogwaardigheidsbekleders en de fanfare voorop, gevolgd door honderden kinderen met vliegers, modelvliegtuigen, met bloemen versierde kinderwagens, fietsen en paraplu's. Veel van de kinderen zijn gekleed in kostuums. Dan marcheren de volwassenen voorbij, van wie de meesten ook verkleed zijn en op praalwagens rijden. Aan het einde zien we individuele shots van kinderen in kostuum, het publiek en enkele hoogwaardigheidsbekleders. Koninginnedag wordt in Nederland gevierd sinds 1891.
