A new addition to my occasional series, Stories from the Churchyard, takes me back to St. Leonard's Church, in Downham near Clitheroe. The location footage was filmed in May 2023, but other work commitments have meant that I haven't been able to tell the stories of some of those resting in the churchyard until now. It turned out to be a great reminder that not everyone who is buried in a graveyard spent their whole life in that locality . . . and that a gravestone can reveal as much about a person's hobbies and interests as a census record can tell you about their address and occupation.
