Troubling metal particles in the oil led me to suspect the rod bearings were on the way out. Flutter noise on start up. Parts: Must have: Rod bearing set - I used EngineTech BB1063 (BB1063STD) from RockAuto Rod bolts x 8 - Mini #11241485407 from Turners Motorsport or FCPEuro Plastigage - I used Mahl MPG1 0.01-0.03" from RockAuto Oil and filter - I used Hengst E31HD93 10 mm socket 6-sided, 1/2" drive - I used Milwaukee 45349111 from Repco Should have: Sump gasket - I used VICTOR REINZ 713478600 from RockAuto O-ring Oil pick up - I used Mahle B32646 from RockAuto Cheap oil for 1st flush Special tools that make this a lot easier: Auxiliary / Serpentine belt removal tool - might be part 118410 ( I don't have one) Torque angle gauge - I used B8800099 from Turner Motorsport This spec sheet gives tolerances for W11 motor http://wtxmc.org/MiniCooperDocs/ENGIN...
