How I changed the coolant on my Land Rover Defender TD5 and replaced the water housing elbow along with the coolant temperature sensor. The coolant capacity is around 11 litres; however, only expect to get 6-7 litres out. NEVER TAKE OFF THE COOLANT CAP WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT! I will change mine next time! - https://ebay.us/Q2bULX The coolant should be changed every 3-5 years. I plan to change mine again next year, as I had left it too long between changes. I mixed 50/50 coolant/water. The gasket on the water housing elbow had no way up indicator, so I wasn't 100% sure it was fitted as it should have been. However, mine has not leaked, but when changing yours, check the gasket specifications yourself. 22Nm torque on bolts If you have a coolant pressure tester, this is an ideal test for the system post-refitting. I don't have a pressure tester, which is one of the few tools I don't own! I may get one in the future (any affordable recommendations, drop them in the comments below!)
