P/M Robert Mathieson • 6/8 March: Jeanie Mauchline - P/M Willie Bryson • The Jewels of the Ocean - Allan MacDonald • 2/4 March: Centenary Jewel - Phil Cunningham • 2/4 March: Tommy MacDonald of Barguillean - Dr Bruce Thomson Instructor Robert Mathieson served as Pipe Major of the Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band of North Lanarkshire, Scotland, from 1986 to 2010. The band won 30 major championships under Mathieson’s leadership and was a 5-time winner of the World Pipe Band Championships. Mathieson is the only Pipe Major to have won the worlds 5 times, essentially playing his own compositions and arrangements, opening each winning medley with one of his own tunes. He has recorded three albums of his music, Grace Notes, Ebb-Tide, and The Big Birl. and has published a 4-volume collection of pipe music. Competing as a solo piper for the MacCallan Trophy in Brittany, Mathieson is the only piper to have won all categories in the competition; Scottish, Irish and Breton.
