Based on his 2010 introduction to vitreography, Bill Ritchie revisits the subject on a request by a friend, Reka, who wants to learn old-style hand lithography on stones. As it seems out of reach to Bill, he reexamines and remakes the original archived video about an alternative: Siligraphic vitreography. He adds a suggestion how artists with similar wishes might find artisan printers who can process and print the glass plates sent to them. Closing words from Bill's transcript: "I knew when I began this video that it might be a little off-putting because I could not encourage Reka to take up stone lithography. However, I thought about Siligraphic vitreography as a process she could enjoy because she can draw on ground glass, find a skilled lithographer, send the ground glass plate with her drawing to this lithographer and they could print it on their lithograph press (or their roller press) and send back the proofs to Reka. This would be good for Reka, and it would also be a new income source for lithography printers. That's what I meant by the ‘new lithography'.” Selected comments: "This is excellent, I can see all types of cool large projects with this!" "I recognize Harvey Littelton for his wonderful work in hot glass which I'd also pursued for a number of years and which still fascinates me." "Just what I needed to jumpstart making." "By the way, I just wanted to mention a typo of what you were using so folks don’t get confused: SILICONE, not SILICON." "Very nice, quite a clear explanation and demonstration. Yes, sometimes YouTube does work magic. Thanks."
