Austin 7 Ruby Restoration - Body On Chassis Ep5

Welcome to episode 5 of our Austin 7 Ruby restoration project. In this restoration update you can see that we have put the body on the chassis and started a few other jobs. The re wire of the Austin Seven doesn't look too complicated but we have only laid the wires out ready for connection so far. We have a few unanswered questions regarding the wiring but hopefully we can work them out as we go. The cylinder head gasket didn't make a good seal the first time we tried it so we invested in a tube of Loctite 5990 (https://amzn.to/3Tmpvvr) and the head sealed first time after smearing a little of this on both sides of the gasket. Fitting the front screen back on the Austin 7 Ruby was an easy job as it was ready with its bolts when we collected the car. We love the way that it opens outwards to provide ventilation in the car and look forward to using that next summer.
