Being one of the more captivating shows I've seen in a minute isn't enough eh? You also gotta come strapped with a goddamn doozie of a soundtrack! During a pivotal scene (though they are almost all pivotal) in last night's episode, Santigold's "Run the Road" sweet, slinky beat set the stage. What I love so much about Philly's Santi White is how distinctive her vocals are; when a Santigold tracks comes on, there's no mistaking who it is. I guess this can be a blessing or a curse, depending if you dig her sound...but I don't know anyone that doesn't. With the little time left I have in the Bay Area before moving to Austin, I'm feeling a wee bit sentimental. Truth is the I have never liked staying anywhere for too long, so 14 years out here feels like a lifetime. And yet I'm still sad...excited, but definitely sad. Like Santigold I too "believe in the rhythm of the road" and like music, traveling has always been one of my great healers. The freedom. The adventure. The unknowns. All of it. The fucking best. And yet as I get older and wiser, I'm able to see a good thing for what it is, and my experience here has been as good as gold. "We're gone to run the road now. Gone, we're gone now, we're gone now."
