The Asians have only three months to sell up their property and move out. About 50,000 of them hold British passports and Britain has accepted responsibility for them. The Asians have been part of the East African scene for over a hundred years. By virtue of their industry and intelligence, they have established themselves as the main professional and commercial class. Many of them are undoubtedly wealthy compared with the Africans, and their close-knit community has preserved its own culture and traditions.
